Earlier this week, the cast of House of the Dragon sat down to read through the upcoming third season, which starts filming this month. When we last we left the show, Westeros was at war, with several major clashes just on the horizon. The third season will hit the ground running with a major battle; we expect to see lots of fireworks when the cameras start rolling.
If you've read George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, you have a general idea of how events are going to play out. Still, the cast and crew want to keep what they can under wraps. But if you get a bunch of actors with social media into a room, that can be difficult. Case in point: Steve Toussaint, who plays richest-man-in-Westeros Corlys Velaryon, posted a picture showing a list of character who will appear in the fourth episode of season 3. He deleted it quickly, but not so quickly that the internet didn't preserve it in amber for eternity:

Mostly this is unsurprising: the third season of House of the Dragon will include characters like Rhaenyra, Daemon, Alicent, and Aegon: shocker. But there are a few things worth noting.
Beware SPOILERS for House of the Dragon season 3 below
In the first season of the show, we were introduced to three of Alicent Hightower's children by King Viserys I Targaryen: Aegon, Aemond and Helaena. In the book, they also have a son named Daeron Targaryen, the youngest of the lot. He wasn't mentioned in season 1 and fans started to fear he'd been cut. But they brought him up in season 2; in season 3, he'll actually appear onscreen; this character list proves it.
Also worth noting is that Rhaena Targaryen and Lady Jeyne Arryn appear on the list. At the end of season 2, Rhaena Targaryen came upon a dragon in the Vale, where she'd been staying with Lady Jeyne Arryn. This storyline is one of many that's been changed drastically from the book, and apparently it will continue in season 3.
A few notable minor characters appear, including Hugh Hammer's wife Kat, who so far as we know has left King's Landing to ride out the war in the town of Tumbleton. We also see Cley and Mujja, Ulf White's dragon-buddies. Hugh and Ulf are the newest dragon-riders in town, so it makes sense that we'll spend some time with them and their loved ones.
There are also a bunch of a new characters, including Ormund Hightower, Jon Roxton, Luthor Largent, Adrian Redfort, Tohhren Manderly, Lord Glendon Footley, Lady Sharis Footley and some guy named Tom. House Footley is based in Tumbleton, another indication that we'll be traveling there; Jon Roxton is a soldier fighting for the Greens who's present at a battle. Adrian Redfort is a member of Rhaenyra's Queensguard and Luthor Largent an officer in the city watch of King's Landing.
Finally, we should note an absence: Jacaerys Velaryon, firstborn son of Queen Rhaenyra, is not on the list. This is probably because (last choice to avoid a MAJOR SPOILER) he will die early on in season 3 in a conflict called the Battle of the Gullet. Aemond Targaryen also isn't on the list, but I imagine that's just because he isn't in this particular episode.
New episodes of House of the Dragon will likely start coming out on HBO and Max sometime in 2026.
