House of the Dragon season 3 is just weeks away, and we have a new look at one of the most important supporting characters in the series and upcoming battles.
HBO shared a new image of Alyn of Hull, played by Abubakar Salim. The image appears to be from the Battle of Gullet, which House of the Dragon fans know is going to happen very early in the third season, which premieres on Sunday, June 21.
It's also going to be one of the biggest and bloodiest battles in not just House of the Dragon but the whole Game of Thrones franchise to date.

While he didn't appear in the first season of the series, Alyn of Hull played a smaller role in season 2. The bastard son of Corlys Velaryon, played by Steve Toussaint, had some choice words with his father, but he's an incredible asset in Corlys' ranks. Those soldiers and sailors are up for quite the challenge in the Battle of the Gullet.
Heading into House of the Dragon season 3, we are expecting to see a lot more of Alyn of Hull and his brother, Addam of Hull, played by Clint Liberty, who was chosen as the rider of Seasmoke. Alyn and Addam will be important members in the fight against the Triarchy in the Battle of the Gullet.
For those unaware, the Triarchy allies with the Greens to try to break the blockade of the Gullet by House Velaryon. Alyn of Hull, based on the image, will be right there with Corlys, trying to hold the line while the dragons, like Seasmoke, try to destroy the Triarchy fleet from the skies.
Salim took to Twitter earlier this year to share his experience filming the Battle of the Gullet.
"Filming this sequence has to be one of the craziest highlights of my career to date. Words cannot describe the literal blood, sweat and tears that went into conjuring this spectacle. I cannot wait for audiences to see this. We truly hope we did you all proud."
Of course, we know a few big characters who will be part of this battle, but we have not been introduced to many who will be on the ships when it all goes down. It's basically, from my understanding, just Alyn of Hull and Corlys. Most of the others will be on dragonback.

Obviously, there are a lot of important characters in House of the Dragon. Everyone is worried about what's next for Rhaenyra, Alicent, Daemon, Aemond, Aegon, and the rest of the more connected characters. Well, with this new image, Alyn of Hull deserves his day in the spotlight, too.
Assuming Ryan Condal and the writers follow the story and knowing the history of the Dance of the Dragons, Alyn of Hull will be taking a more central role as the series moves forward. Obviously, he has to survive a major battle first, but if he gets through that and a couple move conflicts in the near future, Alyn of Hull has an interesting story. He's definitely one character I'm expecting will have a much bigger role in the future of the series than what we've seen of him so far.
I don't want to give too much away, but I'm definitely excited to see what's next.
As mentioned, we shouldn't have to wait too long for the Battle of the Gullet in House of the Dragon season 3. It should be the first episode of the season, if the rumors are true.
