Outlander may be over, but we have a return date for season 2 of Blood of my Blood to continue the saga!

After eight seasons, Outlander finally ended in May of 2026 with a finale that’s likely to spark a lot of debate for a long time to come. However, fans won’t be without this sweeping romantic saga for long, as Starz announced that season 2 of the prequel series Blood of my Blood will premiere on Friday, September 18.

The series expands on the works of Outlander author Diana Gabaldon by telling the dual storylines of the romance post World War I between soldier Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Mortison (Hermione Corfield) — the parents of Outlander heroine Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe) — and the growing romance in 1715 between Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen McKenzie (Harriet Slater), the future parents of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

The series threw fans for a wild loop when an accident sent Henry and Julia through the mystical stones, landing them in 1715. As they tried to get back to each other, each soon became involved in the growing battle of the Highland clans and the British that would culminate in the Jacobite Rising.

“The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary, and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season 2,” showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts shared in a statement via TV Line. “Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamored by these new couples when they meet them this summer.”

“The world of Outlander has captivated audiences with its sweeping storytelling and unforgettable characters. With Blood of my Blood, we’ve expanded the universe in a way that honors the original, while charting bold new territory,” added Starz’s president of programming, Kathryn Busby. “Fans — longtime and new — will be drawn to the powerful love stories at the heart of this next chapter, and we’re proud to continue building on the franchise’s legacy with Matt and our longtime partners at Sony, who have worked tirelessly to make Outlander the global phenomenon it has become.”

Given how season 1 ended, fans are more than ready for a second season, complete with a teaser!

What is season 2 of Blood of my Blood about?

Season 1 ended with Henry and Julia trying to escape through the stones as the Rising kicked off. The teaser reveals that only Henry returned to the 20th century, leaving Julia behind. It’s suggested Henry’s memory may have been affected, with his line, “I wake up every day knowing something is missing,” hinting that he may no longer remember Julia.

Julia herself is shown clutching a child (a newborn Claire?), while Brian and Ellen are caught between their warring clans. We get some big battle scenes, flipping between the past and present, and of course, the steamy hookups Outlander fans know so well. Here's the official description for Outlander: Blood of my Blood season 2:

"After an unexpected journey back in time left Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia (Hermione Corfield) Beauchamp lost and separated in the sweeping highlands of 18th century Scotland, Season One culminated with the two finally reuniting at the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, hoping to return to their own time and their young daughter, Claire. The first glimpse at Season Two picks up at that moment and reveals a distraught Julia alone with their baby. Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health, as he fights to find his way back to her.

Meanwhile, the forbidden relationship between Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) seemed to conquer all odds, but their romantic escape was cut short as fiery crosses were lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war. In Season One, they chose each other over their families, but now they must prioritize their clan loyalties, as Brian fulfills his obligation to fight and Ellen seeks to make things right with her family.

As Season Two unfolds, the two young couples will be tested and separated once again by forces beyond their control, as every clan chooses a side in the rebellion.”

Besides the main four, the cast includes Tony Curran as Lord Lovat, Rory Alexander as Murtagh, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum, Sam Retford as Dougal, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

Matthew B. Roberts is back as showrunner alongside executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg and Luke Parker Bowles. The teaser promises more of the action, romance, drama, and mix of sci-fi and history that Outlander fans adore. The wait for this new expansion of the saga should be worth it!
