Characters are on the move in new images from House of the Dragon Episode 203
By Dan Selcke
The next episode of House of the Dragon, the third of the second season, airs this Sunday. HBO has just released a bevy of new photos. Let's check them out, starting with some portraits of our gang on Dragonstone:
Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) is still running her war from the island fastness. In Episode 203, we'll spend more time with her step daughters Baela Targaryen (Bethany Antonia)...
...and Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell).
Both Baela and Rhaena are the children of Rhaenyra's husband Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) from his previous marriage to Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell), who died in the first season. While Baela rides the dragon Moondancer, Rhaena does not have a dragon to call her own, at least not yet.
Here's the lot of them meeting over the Painted Table in Dragonstone to plot Rhaenyra's next move. Also present are her household knight Ser Alfred Broome (Jamie Kenna) and Kingsguard knight Ser Lorent Marbrand (Max Wrottesley):
Not everything happens inside! Here's Rhaenyra and Rhaena chatting while taking in the sea air:
Meanwhile, over on the island of Driftmark, Rhaenyra's advisors Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) and her husband Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) — who happen to be the only functional, healthy couple in Westeros — are taking a moment in all this craziness just for themselves:
The Greens
Meanwhile, over in King's Landing, Rhaenyra's enemies are still reeling from the aftermath of the young Prince Jaehaerys being murdered in his bed by assassins sent by Daemon Targaryen. It's hit Queen Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban), the boy's mother, particularly hard. Here she is with her mother Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke):
What do you do if your grandchild has been killed in the night? Go for a walk:
Meanwhile, Alicent's son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) is still getting used to the idea that he's the king. He's unschooled enough that the slimy Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) may be able to manipulate him:
Last episode, King Aegon promoted Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, to the role of Hand of the King. Below, Ser Criston contemplates how far he's come:
It also looks like he's on the move somewhere. In the book Fire & Blood, Ser Criston takes part in a big battle that should be coming up pretty soon. Maybe that's where he's going in this shot:
Daemon Targaryen at Harrenhal
Finally, Rhaenyra's husband Daemon arrives at the ruined castle of Harrenhal, where he intends to establish a military foothold on behalf of his wife...or at least that's what he said he was going to do before their fight last episode. Now, who knows?
One thing's for sure: Harrenhal is very, very spooky:
He does eventually get that helmet and armor off:
Finally, we have a quick shot of House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal milling about on set:
And that's it for now! Tune in for the third episode of House of the Dragon season 2 this Sunday night on HBO and Max!
