Comedy legend Catherine O'Hara in talks to join The Last of Us season 2

Production on the second season of HBO's zombie drama The Last of Us is finally starting up. We should be watching new episodes sometime in 2025. We're hearing all kinds of interesting things about casting. Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby, a hugely important new character from The Last of Us: Part II video game. Isabela Merced is Dina, a love interest for lead character character Ellie (Bella Ramsey). And Beef star Young Mazino is on board as Ellie's friend Jesse.

We expected to hear about all of those roles. But I have no idea who Schitt's Creek star Catherine O'Hara might play. But apparently she's circling a role, as she confirmed on a new episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. A viewer at home asked if the rumors about O'Hara joining the cast of The Last of Us were true. O'Hara, surprised that they had this information, said yes. "How do you know these things?" she asked. "What, do you work on the show?"

"It's in discussion," O'Hara said about her role. "Yeah!" Also, O'Hara's son works as a set decorator on The Last of Us, Maybe he leaked this info, I dunno.

Catherine O'Hara has been in the public eye lately for playing dive matriarch Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek, but she's been killing the game for decades. She got her break performing alongside the likes of John Candy and Eugene Levy on SCTV, which was basically Canada's version of Saturday Night Live. She became a familiar face to millennials thanks to big roles in movies like Beetlejuice and Home Alone. (Ever shouted "Kevin!" just for fun? You're quoting her.) She was cornerstone of mockumentaries like Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. And now she's gonna be...a clicker, maybe?

For real, I have no idea who O'Hara could play in The Last of Us, but I'm curious to see what she brings to the table. Ellie and company will travel to some interesting places in season 2, and run into all kinds of interesting people. Hopefully Moira Rose is one of them.
