Invincible, based on the comic of the same name by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, is a bracingly exciting superhero show well on its way to becoming a modern classic, which is why the release schedule has been so frustrating. The first four episodes of the second season dropped in November of 2023, and then there was...silence for months. We finally learned that final four episodes of season 2 will start airing on Amazon Prime Video on March 14, but it's been hard to keep enthusiasm high in between.

Now, a bit more than a month out, Amazon is starting to whet our appetites. Collider got hold of a fancy new poster showing hearing Mark Greyson, aka Invincible, flying through a green-tinted city about to planet a punch right between the eyes of new villain Angstrom Levy; not Angstrom reflected in Mark's eyes...or whatever you call those things he wears over his eyes.

Angstrom Levy was one of many threads left hanging when Invincible went on its break. He's a scientist who wanted to use his ability to open doorways to alternate dimensions to make the world a better place, but ended up bitter, deformed and insane after an accident for which he blames Invincible. It'll be fun to see what he brings to the table, although I'm sure most fans are more curious about what's next for Mark and his dad, Omni-Man, after they teamed up to fight a group of Viltrumites in the very entertaining fourth episode of the second season.

I just hope that the next four episodes have good enough to get people interested before the show once again goes on a prolonged break, although at least we know that work on the third season is already well underway. I can't think of another example of a show cutting off its own momentum like this. Long waits between new episodes are always difficult, but long waits between new episodes of an eight-episode season was pushing the limit. Here's hoping it was a one-time hiccup.
