Between the House of the Dragon finale leaking and Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as a villain, there's a lot to get frazzled over this week.

This past weekend, pop culture aficionados of all stripes piled into San Deigo Comic-Con, where the movers and shakers in the TV and movie industries competed for their attention. There were a lot of exciting things revealed, and we talk about all the ones that matter (read: all the ones that interest us) in a new episode of Take the Black, our weekly chat show.

Although let's be real: some of the announcements stood out. To wit: Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man himself, is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing an entirely new role: supervillain Doctor Doom. Is this idea crazy or just crazy enough to work?

As if that news weren't dramatic enough, a couple days later we learned the season 2 finale of House of the Dragon had leaked online, not unlike what happened with the first season finale back in 2022. This situation is a little different, and obviously we're not going to spoil anything, but you best believe we're going to talk about the whole kerfuffle:

Beyond that, we watch the trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, discuss the new Doctor Who and The Boys spinoffs, and I spend some time salivating over the third season of Interview With The Vampire. Daniel is reading The Mercy of Gods, a yet-to-be-released sci-fi book! I'm going to see a Lord of the Rings stage musical! Lots to chew on this week.
