Welcome to a very special episode of Take the Black, the weekly chat show where we two editors of WinterIsComing.net talk about all things sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and books. This week, we dive into Daniel Roman's exclusive interview with A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, which we posted on the site earlier this week. What did he want to talk about? What did he not want to talk about? How has fame affected his life? What are his thoughts on fandom after being part of fan communities for decades? Were we starstruck? We get into it all! Watch below:

Getting to talk to George R.R. Martin is a big deal for us, and we thank him very much for his time! Maybe he'll come on the podcast some day, why not?

There are plenty of other things happening in and around Westeros. Although we didn't talk about it in the interview, the back-and-forth between Martin and HBO over his problems with House of the Dragon continues in small ways, so we had to talk about that. Also, filming has finished on the new Game of Thrones spinoff show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. While Martin has been critical of House of the Dragon of late, he's been full of praise for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The vibes around this show are excellent, and we're looking forward to seeing what the cast and crew have done with it when it premieres on HBO and Max sometime next year.

Finally, we have an early, spoiler-free review of The Penguin, HBO's new Batman spinoff show. Somewhat to my surprise, it's really good! Waddle waddle.
