There are no more episodes of Invincible this season
By Dan Selcke
Today, the season 2 finale of Invincible dropped on Amazon Prime Video, and as expected, it was a doozy. What's next for Mark Grayson? How will he resolve his current identity crisis? What about Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and the rest of the show's ballooning cast of heroes and villains? Will Omni-Man make his way back into the main story after spending most of season 2 on the sidelines?
We'll find out the answers to all of those questions...eventually. The show has already been renewed for season 3, but unfortunately, this most recent episode, "I Thought You Were Stronger," is the final episode of season 2. That means no new episodes for at least several months.
That's something Invincible fans are used to by now. After the first season ended in April of 2021, we had to wait over two years before season 2 began in November of 2023. And then we only got four episodes before the show went on a mini-break, picking up with the back half of the season just this past March.
Those wait times are very annoying. Happily, showrunner Simon Racioppa has no intention of repeating them. "Amazon picked up [seasons 2 and 3] together," he recently told The Direct. "So, we are deep in Season 3 at this point. So I can't tell you exactly [when], but I can tell you it will not be the same wait between [seasons] 1 and 2... We're well in progress on Season 3, and it's coming along great."
Cast members back up this statement. Back in December, Jason Mantzoukas (Rex Splode) said he already recorded his dialogue for season 3, which he describes as "bananas." If they were already that far along at the end of 2023, we don't have to worry about an interminably long wait.
Dare we even hope that Invincible season 3 could start airing by the end of 2024? I wouldn't count on it, but it's not completely outside the realm of possibility. And if not that early, then we'll at least be watching new episodes sometime in 2025. Until then, the Invincible comic book by Robert Kirkman has been finished for years if you can't wait to learn what happens next.
