9. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 (2024, Paramount+)

Up top I said that we weren't going to count Star Trek: Discovery or Star Trek: Prodigy as true contenders for the title of best sci-fi/fantasy show of 2024. But there is one Star Trek show that might be able to go the distance: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a serialized drama that harkens back to the days of The Original Series but with a modern coat of paint.

The response to Strange New Worlds has been very positive across the board. Fans love the likable characters, the self-contained episodes and tonal flexibility that allows the show to tackle both drama or comedy depending on the week. With audiences primed to expect a good time, season 3 of Strange New Worlds could make it the defining Star Trek show of its generation.

10. Interview With The Vampire season 2 (2024, AMC)

Interview With The Vampire adapts Anne Rice's famous horror novel of the same name, with plentiful nips and tucks so it appeals to modern audiences. Rather than feeling pointless or annoying, the changes breathe new life into the old story of a dysfunctional family of vampires trying to find the answers to questions about themselves, their history, and the meaning of their (un)lives.

The first season caught me off guard with how good it was. I think Interview might be a tad niche to turn into a worldwide phenomenon -- it's very tightly focused on the emotional journey of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and the vampires he loves -- but I was surprised once and I'm willing to be surprised again.

Alright, we've got one more show to add to the list before we can decide who's taking this cake:
