Just last week we learned that Silo has wrapped filming on its fourth and final season, but there was one catch: we still haven't seen seen season 3. Since the show has a finite end point in mind thanks to Hugh Howey's source material books, it made sense that it would keep firing on all cylinders to get the bulk of production done. But obviously, we want to know when season 3 will drop, since it's been over a year since season 2 finished out its run in January, 2025.

And now, we have our first solid clue straight from the source! While appearing on the TODAY show with Cillian Murphy to promote Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, star Rebecca Ferguson confirmed that we'll be watching Silo season 3 sometime during Summer 2026.

Silo season 3 premieres in Summer 2026

When asked by host Craig Melvin about when we'll get to see Silo season 3, Ferguson replied, "This summer. Are you excited?"

"I can't give you a date," Ferguson continued when pressed for more information. "I don't know. But it's in the summer, it's coming out."

While Ferguson may not have announced an exact date, she did drop a tantalizing tease about what's in store. "I mean, it does get oddly better and better," she said. "I find it is unusual for shows to grow and sort of advance in the stories. I find they usually just kind of fall out, but this one gets better and better."

Silo season 3 will adapt parts of the second and third books in Hugh Howey's series, Shift and Dust. The reason for that is that Shift primarily focuses on new characters, some of whom we met in the shocking end stinger for season 2, while Dust returns the focus to Juliette Nichols and her fellow bunker-dwellers in Silo 18. Rather than sidelining Ferguson and the rest of the main cast for an entire season, the show will combine these two books into two full seasons to wrap up the story. In my opinion, that's pretty much the only reasonable approach it could have taken.

When does Silo season 3 come out?

It's understandable that Ferguson couldn't reveal the actual release date for Silo; even if it was set in stone, you have to imagine that's the sort of thing Apple is keeping tightly under wraps until the opportune moment. However, we can make an educated guess about when it might premiere.

Apple TV tends to run its tentpole sci-fi shows one at a time, and the next on the docket is For All Mankind season 5, which premieres on March 27 and runs until May 29. That's the same day the For All Mankind spinoff Star City premieres, which in turn is tentatively slated to run until June 17.

If I had my guess, I'd say that Silo is the next big sci-fi show Apple has scheduled to go out after For All Mankind and Star City. That means the earliest we should expect to watch it is around June 17 or later in July or August. Ferguson joked that the show was coming on "15th of July, 1500...," and while she was obviously just vamping with some random numbers, could it be possible that there was a bit of a subconscious slip in there? After all, 15th of July isn't that different a date than 17th of June.

Whether it's June, July, or August, it's good to know that Silo season 3 is premiering sooner rather than later. It's one of the rare big budget sci-fi and fantasy shows that has managed to beat the dreaded two-year gap between seasons, and the fan response has proven that to be a very popular choice, indeed.

We'll have our ear to the ground for more updates about Silo season 3 as we draw closer to its Summer 2026 release date!
