We finally have an update on Fourth Wing Book 4 from Rebecca Yarros. While announcing her upcoming book tour to promote Threshing Day, Yarros revealed that she will still be writing the fourth book of The Empyrean series this fall.
"I can’t wait to see some of you in these four cities," Yarros said in a post on Instagram. "I know dates are limited and wish I could spend multiple weeks visiting with you guys, but this fall is wildly busy between releases and writing book four, so stay tuned because there are more events coming up for my Peculiar Stars tour!"
That's probably not the update fans were hoping for! I know there are a lot of Fourth Wing fans who might be expecting Yarros to finish the fourth book of The Empyrean series soon. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen.
Yarros has been writing Book 4 since early 2025. She revealed in a January 2025 Instagram post that she was starting to get things in order. There are reports that Yarros started writing the highly anticipated book in March 2026.
I don't think any fans expected her to actually finish the book by now. Unfortunately, we don't have any indicators for when Yarros will be done with the book, either. That's putting some of those 2027 release date predictions and expectations in question at the moment. If Yarros is working on the book well into 2027, we're probably looking at a 2028 release date for Book 4.
Yarros deserves so much credit for cranking out as many projects as she has in the last few years. She also has Threshing Day, the Fourth Wing novella, and Peculiar Stars coming later this year.
Yarros announced Fourth Wing book tour for Theshing Day
The good news is that Yarros also announced a book tour for Threshing Day, which will be released on Sept. 29, 2026.
According to Yarros' Instagram post announcing the tour, Yarros kicks off the launch of Threshing Day in Denver, Colorado, on Sept. 28, one day before the release, for an event hosted by The Tattered Cover at the Buell Theater.
On Oct. 1, Yarros will be in New York City's Time Square with an epic event that includes a parapet, signed books, and the opportunity to attend a Q&A with the author herself! There are only four Q&A sessions available, so you better get your tickets early if you can. If I know anything about Fourth Wing fans, this event will definitely sell out.
In addition to the New York City event, Yarros is making two more stops on the tour in Seattle, Washington, and Los Angeles. The Los Angeles event is happening on Oct. 3 at Million Dollar Theater, and the Seattle event is the following day, Oct. 4, at Benaroya Hall.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 12 p.m. ET, and you can go to Yarros' website for more information.
With all of these events and Yarros speaking to crowds, hopefully, we'll get some updates on where Yarros is at with Book 4 and when we can expect the new book to be released. I'm hoping with these Q&A sessions happening, Yarros will reveal some secrets about Threshing Day and Book 4.
