Rebecca Yarros announced two Threshing Day events will be rescheduled on Instagram a few weeks after postponing the Los Angeles and Seattle stops earlier this month. The events, which were supposed to take place on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, respectively, were postponed after Yarros' father passed away.
Yarros revealed the Threshing Day events in Los Angeles and Seattle will happen at some point in the future in her latest Instagram post.
"Thank you all for being so understanding about my need to postpone the Threshing Day tour events in Los Angeles and Seattle," Yarros said. "I want you to know that my team and I are currently working to reschedule both of these events. I appreciate your patience while we make these arrangements."
The events in Los Angeles and Seattle were going to follow Yarros' appearances in Denver and New York City to promote the release of her new Empyrean novella, Threshing Day, which was released on Sept. 29, 2026. While the events differed by location, fans received copies of Threshing Day and sat for a Q&A session with the author.
The same was supposed to happen at the Million Dollar Theater in Los Angeles and Benaroya Hall in Seattle, but it was announced that the events were postponed until further notice after Yarros' events in New York City. Fans didn't know why the events were postponed/canceled, but then, on Oct. 6, a few days after the events were scheduled to take place, Yarros announced on Instagram that her father had passed away.
It's unclear when the new events will take place and if they'll be held at the same location, but Yarros and her team will likely share more about that soon.
As for ticket holders at the Los Angeles event, which was canceled and had tickets refunded, Yarros revealed that her team is trying to find a way to offer tickets to those who had already purchased them.
"Being as transparent as possible: because LA’s event was canceled, we are still determining whether the tickets for a new event can first be offered to those who already had them for the original event, but can’t guarantee that at the moment," Yarros continued. "I know there will be more questions than we have answers for, but I’ll have information for you as soon as possible."
Yarros also thanked fans for their support and finished the update with a promise of more information coming soon, along with new details about the press events for Peculiar Stars, her new non-Empyrean book that will be released on Nov. 17, 2026.
"Please know that I genuinely want to see you all, and rescheduling is a choice I personally made. I’ll also have tour info for Peculiar Stars coming for you later this week. My father wouldn’t want me to stay knocked down. He’d expect me to stand and I intend to do just that. Hopefully you guys won’t mind filling some seats so I’m not babbling at empty theaters. And thank you again for being such an incredible community. Your support has been so appreciated during this difficult time."
Yarros's latest update is, of course, welcome news for fans in Los Angeles and Seattle who are ready for the opportunity to see the author in person and hear what she has to say about her new book and Book 4. During the New York and Denver events, fans asked a ton of great questions, and Yarros shared some very interesting updates.
Looking at the calendar, I'm curious if Yarros' rescheduled Threshing Day events will coincide with her Peculiar Stars tour. Perhaps, when Yarros is scheduled to visit Los Angeles and Seattle, she will hold back-to-back events for each of her new books? We'll just have to wait and see, but we probably won't have to wait too long.
For those who don't know, Threshing Day is not the fourth book of the Empyrean series. That book is still being written by Yarros this fall, and no release date has been announced. Instead of continuing Violet's story, Yarros took a step back and shared the Threshing Day, the day the dragons choose their riders at Basgiath, stories of 13 characters.
Our thoughts are with Yarros and her family during this difficult time.
We'll share more updates about Yarros' Threshing Day events and Fourth Wing Book 4 updates as we find out.
