It's been over a month since Amazon pulled the plug on The Wheel of Time after the show's stellar third season, leaving fans of the iconic fantasy series bereft. But they haven't taken it lying down. They've launched a campaign to save the show, complete with billboards, a letter-writing campaign, and a petition that's closing in on 200k signatures.
And now they've adding singing to their efforts! This video of a group of Wheel of Time fans, dressed in full medieval-esque regalia, is making the rounds, and I am once again impressed:
An incredible group of Wheel of Time fans gathered in front of Sony Pictures HQ in Culver City, CA, to sing the Manetheren Song. This is what love for #TheWheelOfTime looks like ๐ฅน#SaveWOT

The fans are outside of Sony Pictures headquarters in Culver City, California. Sony is the group that actually produced The Wheel of Time show in partnership with Amazon, which aired the series on its Prime Video service. There's also a group called Iwot that retains some of the rights to the franchise. One of the reasons saving the show is so difficult (and I suspect one of the reasons it was cancelled in the first place) is because there are so many stake-holders to appease, with Iwot in particular having proven a difficult to deal with over the years.
But if the show does come back, I think we can all agree to credit the efforts of these industrious fans. This wasn't even the only group that sang. A second batch of troubadours turned up later. Sure, the second group wasn't in period dress, but still; that's organization!
They're singing "Sing of Manetheren," a song about an ancient kingdom that used to stand in the Two Rivers, from where most of our main characters hail. The group sings it while on the road in the second episode of the series, and there's a reprise late in the third season after Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) returns home.
What impresses me about the singing fans is that they know what they're doing. They're not just blurting out the lyrics; they have harmonies, they have counterpoints, they rehearsed this. That's the kind of passion that The Wheel of Time fans are bringing to this effort. Even if those efforts come to naught, I'll remember this. These fans should go into organizing.
