Fans of The Witcher franchise have even more reason to be excited besides the upcoming remaster of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It was recently announced that a new audiobook series starring everyone’s favorite monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, is now underway, with the first audiobook, Crossroads of Ravens, now available from Orbit. Not only can you listen to the prequel story of Geralt’s adventures, the audiobook also features a stellar cast of performers.
This news is in addition to lots of new Witcher content on the way. With the remaster of the acclaimed video game The Witcher 3 releasing on September 29, there is also the Songs of the Past expansion due in 2027, the final season of Netflix’s The Witcher releasing next year, and a new book from author Andrej Sapkowski is also reportedly in the works. With all of these treasures, there is clearly no shortage of upcoming Witcher media to consume, and plenty to choose from. For now, however, let’s take a look at what we know about the Crossroads of Ravens audiobook.
The Crossroads of the Ravens audiobook features an amazingly talented cast
For my money, the best news about the new Witcher audiobooks is the use of a full cast. While the dulcet tones of a narrator can be pleasant, having actors perform as beloved characters has the advantage of really bringing Geralt’s biggest adventures to life.
In Crossroads of the Ravens, we meet an 18-year-old Geralt, fresh after the mob attack on Kaer Morhen. The story is set long before the events of the short stories and novels previously written by Sapkowski, and has Geralt questioning his beliefs of duty, honor, and vengeance. Geralt is voiced by Sam Stafford, who has also performed in several Doctor Who audiobooks, as well as video games in the Harry Potter franchise.
Other voice cast members include Richard Armitage as Preston Holt, Geralt’s Witcher mentor. Fans of The Lord of the Rings should remember Armitage as the dwarf prince Thorin in The Hobbit trilogy. Armitage recently appeared in the Hulu series Red Eye, and the Netflix limited series Missing You.
Clare Corbett is the voice of the priestess, Nenneke, one of Geralt’s closest friends from the Witcher books and the Netflix show. Other cast members include Tom Alexander as the mage Artamon of Asguth, and Masud Milas and Nneka Okoye in multiple roles. Peter Kenney serves as the audiobook's narrator.
The Crossroads of the Ravens audiobook is now available on Audible for only $0.99 for a limited time, and the next audiobooks, The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, are due to release in November. The other six books in the series will release in the same format throughout 2027.
