The studios have unleashed the trailers, and there's nowhere to hide! Today's theme is action-horror, with trailers for new installments of the Jurassic World and Predator franchises along with the first trailer for HBO's IT spinoff IT: Welcome to Derry. Strap in and hope none of these monsters get their jaws, claws, or creepy clown fingers on you.

First up is the final trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, which you can watch above. It stars Scarlett Johansson, Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, and Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi's Rupert Friend, all of whom go on a daring mission to a new dinosaur island in hopes of securing DNA from the largest beasties from land, sea, and sky in order to synthesize some kind of miracle cure to benefit humanity. But as terrifying as the T-Rex or Mosasaur are, they'll also encounter something even worse: mutated dinosaurs left over from failed science experiments, including one that looks an awful lot like the Rancor from Return of the Jedi.

I've been a little hesitant to board the hype train for Jurassic World Rebirth, since the previous movie in the franchise, Jurassic World Dominion, was marketed as a huge event film that would be serve as a conclusion for the series. There was never any chance that would actually stick, but it's still a little weird to get a new one only a couple of years later. But hey, at least it does look pretty fun! Rebirth wins me over a bit more with each trailer.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards (The Creator, Rogue One) and was written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp. The vibes are on point, leaning more into how terrifying it would be to be hunted by dinosaurs than some of the previous films starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. I'm willing to be convinced. After all, who doesn't want to watch Scarlett Johansson kick a Quetzalcoatlus in the face?

Jurassic World Rebirth is out in theaters on July 2, 2025.

Predator: Killer of Killers trailer

Sticking with the theme of sci-fi monsters hunting humans, next up we have the latest trailer for Predator: Killer of Killers. This animated film from Prey director Dan Trachtenberg is an anthology story that explores three different eras when Predators came to Earth to hunt human beings. We see it clash with Viking warriors, fight ninja and samurai in feudal Japan, and shoot fighter jet pilots from the sky during World War II.

Trachtenberg's Prey was a tour de force movie and easily one of the best installments in the franchise. He's returning in a big way this year with Killer of Killers, followed by the live-action movie Predator: Badlands in the fall. Killer of Killers is co-directed by Josh Wassung, from the animation company The Third Floor.

Predator: Killer of Killers premieres June 6 on Hulu.

IT: Welcome to Derry trailer

Last but not least, we have a new teaser for IT: Welcome to Derry, a new spinoff series based on Stephen King's IT, which is premiering on HBO later this year. IT is all about a maniacal clown/force of darkness named Pennywise who terrorizes the town of Derry, Maine. By the time of the main events in King's book, as well as the various movie adaptations, Pennywise has been at it for quite a while. The book gives some terrifying descriptions of previous instances where Pennywise caused murder and mayhem in Derry. Now we'll get to see them in action.

The trailer introduces us to Derry in 1962, along with a new group of kids who will be facing off with Pennywise. It's being developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, all of whom worked on the IT films starring Bill Skarsgård. We even catch a glimpse of the killer clown at the end of the teaser. I'd expect the style and tone to be pretty consistent, which is to say scary as hell.

IT: Welcome to Derry premieres on HBO this fall.
