News broke that actor Percy Hynes White was accused of sexual assault back in 2023, and by the time the cast list for Wednesday season 2 came out, it was confirmed he would not return. Yet, considering the major role he played in the first season, there were many questions about how he could effectively be written out of the next installment.
It didn’t take long for the show to get into the details, and there weren’t many details to go into. If you’re a fan of Dick Wolf shows, you’ll know that one-liner explanations are often used as ways to write out the characters, and it’s usually annoying. In this case, it was necessary and acceptable.

Xavier is no longer at Nevermore in Wednesday season 2
The explanation came in the very first episode of Wednesday season 2. It’s one of those moments that if you weren’t paying close attention to the episode, you may have missed it. And I admit that that’s usually one of the issues I have with these one-liner explanations.
New principal, Barry Dort, shares that Xavier is “heading to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland.” That’s it; there’s no reason to delve even more into this.
He didn’t completely leave without a goodbye, with him writing a letter to Wednesday for her to find in her dorm room, along with a portrait of the one-eyed crow that’s been spotted around Jericho recently. He sets up Wednesday with a mystery, because he knows how much she needs one. He did try texting her, but she didn’t reply, and he knows that she probably got rid of her phone because Wednesday does not do modern technology.
With this exit, though, it also meant the exit of another character: Vincent Thorpe. This meant something good for Morticia Addams.

Xavier’s exit makes perfect sense with season 1’s storyline
The one-line exit didn’t need any further explanation. We knew that in the first season, Xavier Thorpe’s dad was angry that his son was being accused of murdering people. He knew that it wasn’t his son, but of course, that needed proving. When Tyler Galpin was confirmed as the murderer, Xavier was released, but that sort of stain would stick.
So, the idea of Vincent pulling his son from Nevermore isn’t that surprising. Who would continue to allow his son to be around the people who believed him as a murderer? The whole family would want to get out of Dodge and start a life anew in another country.
On top of that, Vincent decided to pull his endowment from Nevermore and left as the chairperson of the gala fundraising committee. Well, that’s a great opportunity for Morticia, who can now take over as the chairperson.
The first half of Wednesday season 2 is now available on Netflix, with the second half of the season arriving on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
