Welcome to another edition of WiC Weekly, where we catalog the biggest and best stories concerning the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, books and TV to run here over the past seven days.

Let's start with a couple of looks forward for the year to come in TV. There's a ton of of it coming, enough to keep sci-fi and fantasy fans occupied all the way through December:

For a more pessimistic take, here are a bunch of sci-fi/fantasy shows we're nervous might get canceled this year:

And then are shows like Stranger Things, which are ending this year, hopefully with a bang. But when exactly will we see the final episodes?

Back to pessimism, we have some news about the upcoming third season of House of the Dragon:

And now we return to The Wheel of Time, with much better news to share:

In addition to writing several popular series of his own, author Brandon Sanderson is famous for finishing The Wheel of Time books after the death of original author Robert Jordan. And Sanderson has strong opinions about Hollywood's ongoing mission to adapt epic fantasy series to the big and small screens:

Director James Cameron gives us a preview of the next move in his historically successful Avatar series:

Thinking of getting into the wild and wonderful world of Warhammer? Prime Video is working on a new TV series, so now seems as good a time as any to get familiar with this dense world:

Finally, before the first month of 2025 wraps up, we're here to fill you in on all the returning sci-fi shows you should look out for this year:

And a few new sci-fi shows on the docket as well, including the first ever Alien TV series:

This is the final WiC Weekly of January! The first month of the new year has gone pretty well, if I do say so myself. Let's do it 48 more times before welcoming 2026.
