San Diego Comic-Con just gets bigger and bigger every year. Even with Doctor Who scheduled to make a triumphant return to Hall H, it seemed at first the 2015 convention might be toned down just a tad. After all, Marvel — the biggest entertainment powerhouse in the world right now — was skipping Comic-Con this year, along with Sony and Paramount.
More from Doctor Who
- Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor Who Christmas special is a “complete reinvention”
- Ncuti Gatwa is “so nervous” to take on Doctor Who role
- The Doctor and Donna are better than ever in “Wild Blue Yonder”
- Take the Black: House of the Dragon season 2 trailer hints, the Fallout show, and more
- Jodie Whittaker didn’t pick up on any of the hate for her version of the Doctor
Not only were we all wrong about the convention getting smaller, but even Doctor Who came on stronger than expected this year. Everyone was in nervous anticipation of the Official Doctor Who panel on Thursday afternoon, but no one could have foreseen that Doctor Who would dominate all four days of the show! Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman seemed to be omnipresent all weekend long, and even when they weren’t making news themselves, there was still Doctor Who news coming in from the show floor.
Now that the doors have finally closed and the dust has settled, here’s a recap of all the top Doctor Who stories and moments from Comic-Con 2015.

8. John Barrowman Sings the Doctor Who Theme Song
As usual, former Torchwood star John Barrowman gave one of the funniest and most entertaining panels of the entire week.
Full of singing, dancing, and “booty-shaking,” Barrowman rattled off a number of raunchy stories and comments, but the best part of the entire hour-long panel was when the Captain Jack star joined an audience member in “singing” the Doctor Who theme.

Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi has always been incredibly generous with fans, and his time at San Diego Comic-Con was no exception.
On Wednesday night, Capaldi randomly turned up at the San Diego Convention Center around midnight and discovered hundreds of Whovians camped out to get into the Doctor Who panel on Thursday afternoon. Capaldi graciously visited with fans and posed for dozens of photographs before calling it a night.

4. Peter Capaldi Makes Surprise TARDIS Entrance on Conan
Conan O’Brien filmed his show live from San Diego all weekend long, bringing the best Comic-Con guests onstage each night. On his final Comic-Con show Saturday night, the only announced guests were the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse.
But before Conan could even get to them, he was interrupted by the sound of the TARDIS landing and a surprise appearance by Doctor Who‘s Peter Capaldi. As if that weren’t enough, Capaldi gave an amazing interview with some of the best quotes we’ve heard yet from the Twelfth Doctor actor.

Many new details about the game were released, including the exciting news that all Twelve Doctors (plus the War Doctor) are playable in the game. And then, of course, there’s that amazing trailer showing Capaldi’s LEGO Twelfth Doctor picking up Batman and Gandalf in the TARDIS.

Thankfully, the BBC learned from their mistake two years ago and quickly released the trailer online for all of us at home to watch, too.
