By this point, we know that Game of Thrones Season 6 will climax with the Battle of the Bastards, a massive fight scene that will pit Jon Snow and his allies against Ramsay Bolton and his supporters. Watchers on the Wall got its hands on a few on-set photos that depict some of the casualties. Reportedly, these pics were taken before filming began on this particular day.
First up, here’s a dead (prop) horse bearing the House Umber sigil. Granted, the show version of the sigil isn’t quite as elaborate as the book version, which also features a giant, but the chains and flame-red field get the message across.
Last we checked in, rumor had it that the Umbers would be fighting on the Bolton side of the battle, which still seems suspect, considering that the Umbers we meet in the books are loyal to the Starks. On the show, the Umbers have presumably been keeping Rickon Stark safe since Season 3, yet more evidence of their loyalty to the Stark family, but maybe Season 6 will bring some unexpected developments. In any case, the Umbers will be at the battle, and by the looks of it, not all of them will make it through.
Next, some of the human dead.
That’s a Karstark sunburst on the one felled horse (the Karstarks are also reported to be fighting for the Boltons), and another with the Bolton flayed man.
Finally, check out this photo of a dummy tied upside-down to a cross.
Reports suggest that Ramsay will tie two people we know to crosses and burn them during the battle. This close-up seems proof enough of that. The real question is: what character is this dummy standing in for?
