Game of Thrones Season 6: Official titles and synopses for Episodes 4 and 5

HBO has released the official episode titles and synopses for the fourth and fifth episodes of Game of Thrones Season 6. And yes, the titles are the same ones that leaked last week.

First up, Episode 4:

"Episode #54 (season 6, episode 4): “Book of the Stranger”Debut: Sunday, May 15 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)Synopses: Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) strikes a deal. Jorah (Iain Glen) and Daario (Michiel Huisman) undertake a difficult task. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey) try to improve their situation.Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; directed by Dan Sackheim."

Tyrion strikes a deal, huh? Might this have to do with the new Red Priestess we’ve seen in the trailers? It also sounds like Jorah and Daario might catch up to Daenerys around this episode.

Also, I love that title. The Book of the Stranger is probably one of the seven books in the Seven-Pointed Star, the holy text of the Faith of the Seven (there’s presumably one book per god). The Stranger is closely associated with death, so look for some trouble in this episode.

"Next, Episode 5:Episode #55 (season 6, episode 5): “The Door”Debut: Sunday, May 22 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learns a great deal. Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) goes on a mission. Arya (Maisie Williams) is given a chance to prove herself.Written by David Benioff & D. B. Weiss; directed by Jack Bender."

“Brienne goes on a mission.” I’m assuming that Sansa will give her a task to complete. Also, while we know from the Episode 3 trailer that Bran will get a glimpse of the fight at the Tower of Joy this Sunday, the description here makes me think he won’t see the full thing until later.

“The Door” is a more general title that could mean anything. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, I note that Benioff and Weiss are in the writer’s chair for both of these episodes. In past seasons, writer Bryan Cogman had gotten in a script by this point, but apparently he won’t contribute until later in the year this time. Also, directors Dan Sackheim and Jack Bender are both Game of Thrones newbies, although they each have plenty of directing experience (Bender directed a bunch of Sopranos episodes, and a ton of episodes of Lost, while Sackheim is a veteran of shows like The X-Files and NYPD Blue).
