20. Bran’s Fantasy Uprights

It was the shock that the show played for all it was worth. After Bran Stark took the entirety of Season 5 off, Game of Thrones brought him back having grown about a foot and a half…and walking. Yes, walking about Winterfell, upright, in handsome dark leathers that looked like they could have, in a another reality, been remade from his brother Robb’s hand-me-downs.

But, as Jay-Z once said, it was all a dream. Bran’s walking upright was part of his greenseeing abilities. It was something he could only do in the past, and what is the past but a dream that we vaguely remember in a hazy way?

Upright Bran rocked those leathers, though. It’s interesting that, in a year where Bran’s half-brother/cousin Jon Snow was put in outfits that deliberately called back to Sean Bean as Ned Stark in Season 1, Ned Stark’s actual son was not. Instead, the clothes he wears during his trips through time are based on the brown shades of his older brother Robb.

Ironically, Jon Snow would follow in Robb’s footsteps to become King in the North. Bran, meanwhile, is now the new Three-Eyed Raven. A simple trick to keep them separate? Or a hint of what’s to come?
