18. Arya’s Braavosi Outfit

In Season 5, Arya finally got new outfits. Of the looks we saw her in, it was the Braavosi girl outfit that stood out the most. This season, struck blind by the House of Black and White for disobeying, it was a long path back to those Braavosi clothes. From rags in the street to her apprentice blacks, Arya’s training montage was as much defined by the outfits she wore as the fight choreography she performed.

Once her sight was restored, so were the Braavosi clothes from the end of Season 5. The hairstyle of the top buns, her woven bolero jacket and full skirt with the netting accessory spoke to the fact that Arya was back in the saddle and ready to assassinate once more. Perhaps though, it was also a sign. After all, it was in this outfit that Arya failed the first time. That she returned to it once more was a sign of failure a second time? Turns out it was.

I’m only sorry we didn’t get to see more of Braavos. The masculine look she sported during her scene where she attempted to buy passage back across to Westeros was also interesting. But before we could explore further, the show decided to cut Arya’s time there short and send her back across the Narrow Sea and be done with it.
