‘Hey, they were in Game of Thrones’—Where else have you seen these 50 GoT cast members?
30) OWEN TEALE
Nobody liked to beat up on Jon Snow more than the cruel Master at Arms of the Night’s Watch, Alliser Thorne, played with seething excellence by actor Owen Teale.
Acting professionally since 1983, Teale (a Welshman) has appeared as Vatrenus in The Last Legion (2007, above, with Colin Firth), Grattius in Cleopatra (1999) and Will Scarlett in Robin Hood (1991). He’s put together a stack of TV credits as well, including Dr. Who (1985), Ballykissangel (1999), Conspiracy (2001, TV movie) and Dai in Stella (2012-2013).
Like many Thrones players, Teale is an accomplished stage actor; he’s a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and won the 1997 Tony Award as Best Actor for Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House. In a 2015 interview with Moviemarker, Teale discussed the theater vs TV conundrum and working closely with Thrones costar Sean Bean.
"It (theater) really is my first love and I would say I’ve had more success in theatre … I made a film for television called “The Fifteen Streets” and that was when my day to day life changed … I think around 15 million people watched that film … it was a massive and heroic part. And it was this bad brother kind of scenario, and that character was played by Sean Bean and I remember that we use to hang out a lot and I used to get a lot of attention from people. But, I still wanted to go back to theatre, so I joined up with the Royal Shakespeare Company and stayed for 4 years and Sean became a huge movie star."
Teale has no film/TV projects set to release in 2017.
