‘Hey, they were in Game of Thrones’—Where else have you seen these 50 GoT cast members?
47) AIDAN GILLEN
Actor Aidan Gillen adds a lot of well-mannered sleaze to Peter ‘Littlefinger’ Baelis. The result is a guy who makes your skin crawl, but it crawls deliciously. Gillen has a sense of humor about it. In 2014, he talked to Vulture about disliking alternate endings and the awesomeness of a Lego Red Wedding:
"I don’t like DVD extras. No. Especially when they do things like put out alternative endings? I find all of that a little bizarre, because there should only be one ending. I don’t like to be told, ‘Oh, we could have had it this way,’ for the director’s cut … I’d like to see the Lego version of … The Lego Red Wedding! There’s some really good Lego Wire stuff, with the shootout with Omar on the street. Little Lego guns blazing."
Television has been kind to Gillen. He’s played major roles like Stuart Jones in Queer as Folk (1999-2000), Mayor Tommy Carcetti in The Wire (2004-2008, above) and John Boy Power in Love/Hate (2010-2013).
Gillen’s movie resume is stacked with notable performances like Aidan Lynch in Circle of Friends (1995), Rathbone in Shanghai Knights (2003, above), a CIA Op in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Robert in Sing Street (2016) and Janson in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2016).
It looks like the Irish-born Gillen might be chasing James Cosmo’s title as ‘busiest Thrones guy in 2017’, with upcoming parts in Urban Myths (TV mini-series), Pickups, The Lovers and King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword.
