SPOILER: Does Bill’s jacket give us a clue about who might die?

We all know that in Wold Enough and Time and in The Doctor Falls someone is supposed to die. Many people believe that it’s Missy, based on the way that the synopsis is written.

Synopsis:

"Friendship drives the Doctor into the rashest decision of his life. Trapped on a giant spaceship, caught in the event horizon of a black hole, he witnesses the death of someone he is pledged to protect. Is there any way he can redeem his mistake? Are events already out of control? For once, time is the Time Lord’s enemy…"

I agree with many of you, mostly because last time I tried to go against the large opinion about who was in the vault, I was horribly wrong. But something’s caught my eye on Bill that’s made me change my opinion. I think, perhaps, it’s not the Master/Missy that’s in danger in these episodes.

Pearl Mackie has been incredibly vague about whether or not she was coming back. Some people say that she’s not, but when she was asked, she said it was “uncertain”. This somewhat ties into the theory I’ve found.

Let’s look at these pictures.

In the first two episodes of the season, we saw Bill in this jacket with cute iron on images. It was these that gave me a possible clue earlier in the season during Smile. Look at the WOW! iron on. See how there’s nothing next to it?

Fast forward to a picture that the BBC put up from World Enough in Time.

Look now next to the WOW! iron on. Now there’s a skull.

Is that a sign that Bill’s the one who’s gonna die? Is it a sign that someone’s going to die in general? But the point is, that definitely wasn’t there before, and I don’t think they would add something like a skull in an episode where someone’s supposed to die.

Personally, I think it means that Bill’s going to die. Pearl Mackie couldn’t come out and say she wasn’t coming back, it would be too much of a clue. By being noncommittal about her leaving, it still leaves the question open.

Is it possible it’s a red herring? Maybe. But we do know that someone’s going to die. Whether it’s Missy, Nardole, or Bill, the skull can’t be a good sign.
