Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “Eastwatch”
By Corey Smith
We return to the cave where Jon showed Dany all of those pretty pictures last week. Going to Dragonstone every five minutes would get old quick if it wasn’t so damn stunning.
Jon’s inside the cave. I guess this means he’s not done mining the dragonglass yet.
Davos attempts to introduce Gendry as “Clovis,” but Gendry quickly reveals his true heritage.
Jon is amused when Gendry calls him “short.” Also, this is the second time this episode when the showrunners brought an internet meme onto the show, Davos’ crack about Gendry “still rowing” being the first.
When Gendry volunteers for Jon’s suicide squad, Davos gets some serious “AYFKM” face.
Dany gave Jon his ship back, and his men are quickly loading up. Also, it got a bit foggy on Dragonstone.
In our best Brad Pitt voice… “What’s in the box?”
Tyrion and Jorah share a surprisingly warm farewell.
Tyrion even gives Jorah the coin given to him by the slaver who bought the both of them back in season 5, the same one Grey Worm spared during the Battle of Meereen. The coin mysterious clinks in Jorah’s hand.
We’re still digging Jorah’s upgraded wardrobe. Did he raid Stannis’ old closet?
Dany and Jorah embrace, neither having any doubt as to whether or not Jorah is cured of greyscale.
Jon and Dany share an awkward public goodbye. Neither seems very happy.
Jorah gives one last look at his khaleesi. Better not be the last time they see each other.
And then there were two… Also, where did the other row boat go?
Back at Oldtown, Sam is doing his homework.
Gilly is gleefully pestering Sam with random facts, highlighting the futility of his work.
All innocence, she casually brings up the biggest mystery on the show.
But never mind that…look at baby Sam!
Sam decides to let Little Sam play with the book, because he’s had enough of the Citadel’s nonsense.
Sam’s to the restricted section, where he grabs select books and scrolls before he leaves. How can he even see what he’s taking?
Sam allows himself one last moment of reflection, gazing at the library that once held so much promise for him.
Sam and family are leaving Oldtown, off to make their own path. We like that Sam changed to some semblance of his Night’s Watch uniform.
One last look at the tower in Oldtown, flames burning in the Hightower.
At Winterfell,Littlefinger is doing his whole scheming thing.
And everyone pretends not to notice Arya standing right in the open.
And are they in the kennels again?
Arya standing in the open once again, clear as day.
Also, if you were planning high treason, why would you do it right in the courtyard? Were all the back rooms booked?
Maester Wolkan hands over a letter to Littlefinger. It’s probably a recipe for lemon cakes.
After Littlefinger squirrels it away in his room, Arya quickly picks the lock — yet another skill she picked up on her travels.
Naturally, Littlefinger’s quarters are highly organized.
Arya searches high and low for that letter. Although for something so small, she could stand to look harder.
Oh hey, what’s this little hole in Littlefinger’s mattres?
Alas, it is not a recipe for lemoncakes, but rather something far more interesting. Given the letter’s age, the frayed edges were a nice touch.
Also naturally, Littlefinger knew about the whole thing.
