Last night, Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) attended the premiere of Walk Like a Panther, a movie about aging pro wrestlers directed by her fiancé and childhood friend Dan Cadan. Headey, who admitted to the Press Association that she was a “pretty big wrestling fan” as a kid, has a cameo in Panther. She’s also starring in a completely different movie about pro wrestling due out later this year, so if anything, she’s underselling her interest a bit.
As happens whenever a Game of Thrones cast member attends a public event, Headey was peppered with questions about HBO’s flagship show. She couldn’t help but drop a few morsels, saying that the eighth and final season will be “bigger and better than ever.” Considering the awe-inspiringly massive sets built for the occasion, she probably isn’t exaggerating.
Headey also commented on the show’s shooting schedule.
"We’re filming till the end of June and it’s all very exciting and very large."
A filming end date in late June falls roughly in line with what other cast members have said about shooting running through into the summer of 2018. We’re getting some conflicting reports of exactly when in the summer it’ll stop, but “summer” is consistent.
Headey did not address the recent appearance of her season 5 body double Rebecca Van Cleave on the season 8 set, because why would she, but a queen has to have some secrets.
