Everyone who works on Game of Thrones, both in front of the camera and behind it, is careful not to give away too much about what’s coming in the eighth and final season of the show. But because we fans are desperate for new information, we pore over everything they say anyway, always on the hunt for clues.
Enter Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont), who spoke briefly to Express UK about series’ end. Express first asked whom Glen hoped would sit the Iron Throne at the end of the story, and his answer should surprise absolutely no one. “Daenerys.” Obviously. Jorah has been devoted to the Mother of Dragons since the beginning, and there’s no way that can’t rub off a bit on the man who’s played him for eight years. He also said that there’s “good stuff” to come for the two of them, and praised Emilia Clarke for her “kind heart.” Dedicated to the end, is he.
But while Daenerys certainly seems on track to sit the Iron Throne, Glen cautioned there could be a twist coming. “You may be surprised by the obvious though.” What does THAT mean?
We can add Glen’s cryptic comment to the litany of similar ones from cast members like Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), said the ending was bittersweet; Nikolaj Coster Waldau (Jaime Lannister), who teased a satisfying and surprising conclusion; Sophie Turner (Sansa), who opined that the end is unpredictable; among others.
Evidence of an out-of-left-field ending is mounting. Bring on 2019.
