We’ll get a bunch of new characters in season 8, including Marc Rissman as Golden Company commander Harry Strickland

At this point, you’d think Game of Thrones wouldn’t have room for more characters from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, but you’d be wrong. Fans who’ve read A Dance with Dragons may recognize the name of “Homeless” Harry Strickland, the commander of the Golden Company. Strickland will appear in season 8, played by actor Marc Rissmann. That’s a picture of Rissman in Netflix’s The Last Kingdom above. He looks like he’ll fit right in.

In the season 7 finale, we learned that Cersei had drafted the Golden Company into her war to take back Westeros, so she’ll need someone from the mercenary organization to play against. It looks like Strickland is it. In the books, Strickland is cautious to the point of cowardice. He’s a complainer and loves elephants. We’ll see how much of that characterization makes it to screen.

There are also a handful of other new characters we don’t know as much about, including Seamus O’Hara as someone named Fergus…

Frank Blake as a “Northern sentry”

Laura Elphinstone as someone named Nora (Elphinstone is the one in the bed below)…

…and Toby Osmund in a “royal” role. We think he might be playing someone from Dorne.

We also know that actors Danielle Galligan and Alice Nokes have been cast as characters named Sarra and Willa respectively. The two of them were spotted hanging with actor Emer McDaid in Belfast, talking about how they’d all just wrapped on something. We think they all filmed their scene or scenes together. While we can’t be sure, we suspect that they’re playing members of the Frey family (there’s a “Sarra Frey” in the books, a granddaughter of Walder’s). Perhaps we’ll stop by there and see how the place is doing after Arya killed off most of the men?

And those are all the new characters to whom we can attach actors. For others, we only have descriptions:
