Sharon Carter revealed as the Power Broker

Since one of the Flag Smashers referred to them in the second episode, we have been dying to know the identity of the mysterious Power Broker. We learned more about the Broker when Sam, Bucky, and Zemo met with Sharon Carter in Madripoor. The Power Broker is after the Flag Smashers for stealing the super-soldier serum.

While their identity hasn’t been revealed, we think the Power Broker is Sharon Carter. There have been several clues hinting at Carter’s secret identity throughout the series. First, she has access to satellites, which is strange considering she is supposed to be on the run. Then, she warns Sam and Bucky not to get involved with the Flag Smashers, seemingly looking out for them, which is sweet. Or she’s subtly warning them, which is less sweet.

The most damning piece of evidence came in “Truth,” as Carter was shown contacting Georges Batroc. Later in the episode, Batroc was colluding with Karli and her Flag Smashers as he wanted revenge for Sam ruining his plans in the series premiere.

Carter may be using Batroc as a double agent to get closer to the Flag Smashers. She could be waiting for an opportune moment to strike when Karli lets her guard down.

But if this is true, why has Carter turned to the dark side? She did seem bitter about Steve forgetting her and having to start over in Madripoor. There could be something we don’t know yet.

One thing is for sure, though: Sharon is up to something shady.
