Fourth Wing casting rumors have been heating up since Prime Video confirmed the TV series based on Rebecca Yarros' bestselling Empyrean book series was in the works last month. One name keeps coming up as the top choice to play Violet Sorrengail in the upcoming romantic fantasy series: Inde Navarrette.
Navarrette, who starred in Obsession, the breakout movie of the year, was asked about playing Violet in the Fourth Wing series by Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier at the Jackass: Best and Last premiere.
"I have seen this because I'm a really big fan of Fourth Wing, and I would love to play Violet," Navarrette said. "But, I mean, at the end of the day, I really want the studio to find what everybody thinks is like the perfect role. But if that happens to be me, that would be phenomenal."
Frazier asked Navarrette to send a message to the casting team on the spot, and she had the perfect response.
"I want you guys to pick the perfect Violet, and if it happens to be me, then that would be beautiful, but if not, I will tune in anyways," Navarrette said.
I think it's safe to say we've been on Team Inde as Violet since she officially threw her hat in the ring about a month ago. Getting Violet right is the most important thing that Fourth Wing needs to do because the character is the center of this entire story.
Sure, fans love Xaden, and the dragons have to be cool, too, especially compared to the epic dragons in House of the Dragon. We can't have Temu dragons in Prime Video's Fourth Wing. Violet is the key character that's going to make this story work on TV... or not.
Navarrette hasn't been in a ton of projects yet. Obviously, Obsession is the big one, but she also had a good run on Superman and Lois and 13 Reasons Why. From what I've seen, I think she would make a great Violet.
Most importantly, though, Navarrette seems to care about the character and the project. You need that passion, I think, when you have a role like this. Of course, that pressure can also work against you, but when you have people who are invested, bought in, and want to make something that everyone loves, that's part of the recipe for success, for sure.
There have been some other names mentioned in contention for the Fourth Wing series. Michael B. Jordan, who is also an executive producer, has been mentioned as a potential Xaden Riorson. Josh Heuston, who stars in Prime Video's Off Campus, is also another actor who keeps getting mentioned, as well.
It's unclear where Meredith Averill, who is developing the series, is at this point in the pre-production process. I'm sure there are casting conversations, but we're still waiting to learn more.
At this point, I would be very skeptical that we'll see this series before late 2027 or 2028 at this point. With a series of this size and scope, they're going to need a lot of time to bring it and the dragons to life. I would be pretty surprised if we see it before 2028 unless there are some key developments soon.
We'll continue to share more news about Prime Video's Fourth Wing TV series as we find out. If you haven't read Fourth Wing yet, it's time to start! This is going to be one of the biggest fantasy shows ever.
