The run up to the premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms continues, and the excitement is growing each day! On January 18, HBO will premiere the first episode of its new Game of Thrones spinoff, which is a smaller-scale adventure that follows an earnest young knight named Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his mouth squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) on various adventures around Westeros.

Obviously, we're pumped for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms here at the site, which is why just this week we launched the return of our podcast Take the Black. The first new episode in more than six months was only a small taste of what's to come, going over why the pod was on hiatus and what it's future looks like in 2026. But you didn't really think we'd leave you hanging on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms week, did you?

Today we dropped another, full-length episode which introduces our new co-host, Marq Nettles. If you spend a lot of time watching Game of Thrones content online, you may recognize him from House of Nettles on TikTok and YouTube, where he creates excellent videos about the Game of Throens franchise and more. Marq's got excellent insights into Westeros, and it made for a fun kick-off episode as we go over everything we're hyped to see in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Check it out:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin's novella "The Hedge Knight," the first in his Tales of Dunk and Egg series. Both Marq and I have read the novellas, but don't worry, we don't go ahead spoiling every twist and turn in this episode. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 has some great moments, and we want you to experience them as fresh as possible!

If you enjoy this episode, definitely subscribe to the Winter Is Coming YouTube channel or Take the Black wherever you listen to your podcasts. We're going to be dropping new episodes on Sundays right after episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms air, breaking down all the details in each installment. It's going to be a fun ride through the tourney at Ashford Meadow, where our fledgeling knight and squire discover what it means to truly be a knight in the grim realm of Westeros.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres on Sunday, January 18 at 10:00 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max. New episodes will follow weekly for the rest of its six-episode season, until the finale on February 22. In the meantime, check out our spoiler-free review of the season to get a glimpse at what's in store.
