Steven Moffat: Doctor Who Series Ten Writers to Make Heads Explode

Series Nine of Doctor Who has just come to an end, and already there is plenty of speculation about Series Ten. If Steven Moffat is telling the truth, then the hype surrounding the upcoming season may be unprecedented.

When imagining future Doctor Who episodes, we all have a wish list of those people that we would like to see involved. Even Moffat would seem to have one, given his pursuit of Peter Jackson. Even though this list would tend to focus on guest stars that we would want to see on the program, including Peter Capaldi’s wish of having David Bowie and Keith Richards aboard the TARDIS,

Even if the focus tends to be on those guest stars we would love to see on the show, their characters can only be as good as they are written. After all, as we saw in Series Eight, bad writing can truly make even a great character appear to be subpar. However, this may not be an issue at all in Series Ten.

According to Moffat, Series Ten will have some truly incredible writers, including a few that have not written on the show before. However, he cannot tell us who these writers would be, as details have yet to be finalized. Also, Moffat is watching out for our collective cranial integrity, as he warned that the announcement will make our heads explode. Just look at what happened to this one person who got a quick peak at Moffat’s list.

More from Doctor Who

There have been plenty of great writers on Doctor Who over the years. Writers such as Neil Gaiman and Catherine Tregenna have taken up the pen to help further the Doctor’s adventures, and quite a few greats have been a part of the show since its inception. However, the list of potential writers to join the show and make their Doctor Who debut is just as impressive.

Of course, there are dangers in bringing along such an impressive list of writers, as Moffat warned. Let us not forget those unfortunates whose heads were unable to handle the astonishing news when it was announced that Gaiman would be a part of Doctor Who. It was a cause of celebration, but one of sadness as well, given the exploded heads leading to a procession of TARDIS style coffins being interred.

At least Steven Moffat was kind enough to give us a bit of warning that our minds may not be able to handle the potential news. After the bloodshed and tragic happenings last time, it was the least he could do.
