Doctor Who’s Catherine Tate to Tour UK with The Catherine Tate Show Live
By Leah Tedesco
Catherine Tate is reviving The Catherine Tate Show with a live tour of the United Kingdom.
It is quite a regular occurrence to see actors from the Whoniverse appear on stage in various productions. With Pearl Mackie currently performing in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End, another companion of the Doctor has been, and continues to be, quite busy in the world of theatre.
Catherine Tate — who played Donna Noble in Doctor Who alongside David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor — just finished a run of Miss Atomic Bomb at the St James Theatre (also in London’s West End) on April 9th. She also co-hosted Shakespeare Live! at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre with Tennant on April 23rd to commemorate the anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death. A recording of the performance will be shown in theaters as The Shakespeare Show in the United States on May 23rd and in Canada on May 26th.
Tate’s image was inexplicably left out of the trailer.

Now Tate is preparing for her next live project. The Catherine Tate Show Live, featuring new sketches, will kick off its 21 date tour on November 1st, 2016 at the O2 Apollo Manchester and will end on December 3rd at Colston Hall in Bristol. The production is an adaptation of her sketch comedy television program The Catherine Tate Show. It originally ran on BBC2 from 2004 to 2007, and began in 2009 to be resurrected for various specials over the years. Tennant appeared both as the notorious teenager Lauren Cooper’s Teacher Mr. Logan in the 2007 Comic Relief Special and as the Ghost of Christmas Present in Nan’s Christmas Carol in 2009. The former featured references to Doctor Who.
It has been reported by The List that, despite her televised death, Lauren will be included as one on the characters of the tour. Other characters will include Nan Taylor, Geordie Georgie, Sam, and Bernie. Actor and stand-up comedian Mathew Horne, who appeared on the television show, will return to guest star. It would be brilliant if David Tennant did the same.
