Class: Michelle Gomez Open to Missy Appearing on Doctor Who Spin-off
By Leah Tedesco
There may not be any plans for Michelle Gomez to reprise her role of Missy, but she is open to doing so, not just on Doctor Who, but on Class, as well.
Despite a report back in May that Michelle Gomez would be returning as Missy in Series Ten of Doctor Who, she more recently stated that she does not know whether or not her character will ever return. She is, however, still open to the possibility of returning to the popular science fiction program, while also considering other options in the Whoniverse. One of them is a hypothetical spin-off featuring Missy, which Gomez herself proposed last year. Another is for the trickster Time Lady to appear on the upcoming spin-off Class. While Gomez has yet to actually be offered this opportunity, at this point, she told Huw Fullerton of Radio Times backstage at this year’s London Film and Comic Con that she is keen on the idea. Being “an actor for hire,” she would “grab [the offer] with both hands,” contingent on it seeming “like the right thing to do at the time” and her being available.

Not only has Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi said that he would like for his character to guest star on Class, but hints have been dropped that this will come to pass — including the TARDIS being sighted on the set of the teen drama, and an implication that Capaldi was recently involved with filming the show. Could the Doctor once again meet up with Missy, this time at Coal Hill School? And if William Russell were to make an appearance as Ian Chesterton — now the school’s Chairman of the Governors — that would make things all the more interesting.
