Fans loathed Lee Sizemore during Westworld Season 1, but could he become a hero in Season 2?
Let’s get this out of the way, Lee Sizemore is probably the least popular character on Westworld. He’s wormy, self-serving and generally quite annoying. He spent most of Westworld Season 1 whining about his narrative and being embarrassed by Ford. His personality was by design, of course, and he was meant to be irksome.
Simon Quarterman played the role the best he could, and in many regards, he portrayed the character perfectly. There are, however, some fans who can’t separate the performer from the performance. As we push towards Season 2, it becomes clear that the landscape of the show has changed. Dolores’ revolution will shake the foundation of Delos, and as a result, we will see characters in a new light.
It may seem impossible, but when the guard changes, Lee Sizemore could be a much different person. Even if that happens, could Sizemore redeem himself in the eyes of fans? It might take a lot of work, but we think it’s a strong possibility.

Could Lee Sizemore Be Redeemed In Westworld Season 2, Or Will Fans Hate Him Forever?
Thanks to the
, we know that
Sizemore joins forces with Maeve
in Season 2. But, for now, we don’t know why. We assume that he’s merely covering his own ass, but he could have turned over a new leaf. Maybe that’s wishful thinking, but stranger things have happened. In reality, it wouldn’t take much to make Lee Sizemore a likable character.
We’ve seen it before on other shows and it usually happens the same way. The writers give the character an anchor, which is usually someone they love or something they sacrifice for. This humanizes them, and makes them much more relatable. A simple act of selflessness goes a long way. The best example of this is Sawyer on Lost. In early seasons he was a huge asshole, but over the course of the show, he became a completely different person. Characters, much like in real life, have a tendency to mature.
This is all speculation, but from a writing perspective, it doesn’t make sense for Sizemore to remain unlikable. Sure, it could serve a specific narrative they are weaving., but he’s not a villain and he’s certainly not a threat. So, he must have some purpose moving forward. We will learn soon enough what Sizemore is up to in Season 2. But, for now, there’s no doubt that he could redeem himself. That is, if he survives long enough to do so.
We still have a few months until Westworld Season 2 drops. Until then, we will continue to speculate on anything and everything Westworld.
Westworld Season 2 will premiere on HBO Sunday, April 22, 2018 9PM/EST
