Not everyone got to attend at SXSW 2018 this year, but on the bright side, a new HBO preview trailer showcases brand-new Westworld footage!

In the last month, we’ve seen HBO’s marketing campaign for Westworld Season 2 kick into high gear. It began when they released a trailer for Westworld’s highly-anticipated second season during the Super Bowl. All was quiet for a few weeks after the Super Bowl; however, HBO has recently taken things to the next level.

First, they released a huge cover spread for Entertainment Weekly, which included new photos and information. Then, they completely dominated SXSW 2018 with panels, interviews and a giant interactive activation for fans. But, HBO wasn’t done yet. Fresh off SXSW, HBO recently dropped some brand-new Westworld footage in a 2018 channel preview compilation – and we couldn’t be more excited.

HBO preview trailer for their 2018 line-up contains brand-new Westworld Season 2 footage

HBO recently released a short sizzle reel for their Spring 2018 slate of programming. There are a lot of HBO originals to look forward to, including Fahrenheit 451, which looks incredible. However, HBO saved the best for last. At the 1:17 mark, we got our first look at some brand-new Westworld Season 2 footage.

The first shot we see is of Dolores and Teddy. Dolores begins to speak, and even from this short clip, it’s obvious that she’s a completely different character. Her short speech last the length of the footage and foreshadows the shape of things to come. Dolores’s quote reads as follows:

"“I remember beautiful things… And terrible things. I know how this story ends.”"

While Dolores is waxing poetic, we see a barrage of clips from Westworld Season 2. The first clip after Dolores and Teddy’s conversation is of Logan (Ben Barnes) and Angela (Talulah Riley) at a party of some sort. This is a treat because it’s the first clip we’ve seen of Riley’s character since she was bumped up to a series regular.

The footage immediately cuts to Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) and a Drone Host. Then we see the familiar sight of Maeve (Thandie Newton) accosting Lee Sizemore (Simon Quarterman) with a weapon. The next scene gives us another look at Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson), who seems to be visiting Bernard inside of Delos’ headquarters.

Dolores’ short speech begins to wrap up, as we are treated to a nice teaser of the Man in Black/Older William (Ed Harris). He’s got some company, and based on their weaponry, it looks like things are about to get messy. To be fair, we don’t have much context for these scenes, but one thing is for sure: this footage only increased our excitement for Westworld Season 2.

Want to share the new Westworld footage with a friend? We’ve got you covered!

To be honest, there is a lot of other fine HBO programming to comb through in the trailer. Sure, it’s great that we got new footage, but what if you want to share it on social media? Well, our friends over at WestworldGIFS collected the new footage and fashioned a wonderfully short video. So, if you’re on Twitter, make sure you show some love to them @WestworldGIFS. We’re finally in the homestretch, and the Westworld Season 2 premiere is almost within striking distance. HBO will likely drop another trailer in the coming weeks and ramp up promotional spots for the show on their channel. We still have a few weeks until Westworld Season 2 drops. Until then, we will continue to speculate on anything and everything Westworld.
