Fourth Wing TV series lands a major casting update

It sounds like things are moving forward nicely on Prime Video's Fourth Wing TV series.

It’s been a long month since Prime Video finally confirmed the Fourth Wing TV series, but we finally have some more good news to share.

Thanks to some eagle-eyed Fourth Wing fans, we know the series is officially casting.

Fourth Wing TV series is looking for its Violet and Xaden

According to the casting call posted on Reddit, the series is currently casting Iris and Rowan, which are likely code names for Violet Sorrengail and Xaden Riorson, the two leads of the series. The hints are in the description of each character.

For "Iris," the series is casting a character who was "raised to be a thinker, forced to be a fighter." Of course, that's Violet from Rebecca Yarros' Empyrean book series.

For "Rowan," it's even funnier how obvious it is that this is the Xaden role. The character will be "fast and lethal" with "the weight of the world carved into his back," according to the casting call posted to Reddit.

This is the first step in a long process, but it's obviously great news that the team is officially on the look out for the stars of the Fourth Wing TV series. From here, we'll obviously have casting lead into production. The sooner the show starts production, the sooner we'll get to see the series on Prime Video.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a while, but let's not spoil the good news by getting bogged down with the release date speculation. The Fourth Wing series led by showrunner Meredith Averill and produced by Michael B. Jordan is making progress this summer and taking some big steps, and that's all that we can hope for.

We could find out who is playing the great characters Yarros created very soon, I’m sure whoever gets picked to play these characters totally won’t be scrutinized for their appearance ad nauseum for years.

I’m kidding; that’s totally going to happen. It’s already happening. Fans will not stop losing their minds about the actors and actresses who have been mentioned in consideration to play Violet Sorrengail, Xaden Riorson, and the rest of these great characters.

So far, a few names have been thrown around and stuck. Off Campus star Josh Heuston has been one of the most discussed options as Xaden. Inde Navarrette, who just starred in the hit horror movie Obsession, appears to be the top choice to play Violet. She’s also expressed interest in playing Violet, as well.

I'd be happy with Heuston and Navarrette as Xaden and Violet, but I know a lot of the fandom has feelings. I'm just hopeful that the series nails casting for these two characters and finds two leads that can carry this series on their back because that's what it's going to take. If history is any indication, fantasy shows need all the help they can get in 2026. Prime Video has a history of canceling quality fantasy shows (The Wheel of Time) without seeing them through, so we need this to go well!

Fourth Wing should have a huge cast, so we should start seeing more casting news for other characters outside of Violet and Xaden. There’s going to be a lot of younger (and older) actors called upon to play these characters, and based on the big names involved, like Averill, Jordan, and Yarros, the series will likely have a lot of other big names who want parts in this show.

We'll continue to share more updates about the Fourth Wing TV series as we find out!
