Season 8 filming: Smoke clogs the air above King’s Landing
By Dan Selcke
WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW
We’re in the final days of filming on Game of Thrones season 8 (seriously, it could end as early as tomorrow), but there’s still a job to be done, and the Thrones crew has got to do it. Shooting on the King’s Landing set in Belfast continues.
Boy, does it ever continue; a new tweet from UTV news editor Chris Hagan shows the set positively belching out smoke:
We’ve seen the set all smokey before — we’ve even seen select structures in flames — but rarely quite like this; that looks downright biblical. We also enjoyed this exchange:
Anyway, by this point it’s clear that King’s Landing is going to have a rough time of it in the final six episodes. What’s causing the smoke? Dragons? White Walkers? White Walker dragons? Stay tuned.
Elsewhere, things look like they’ve quieted down. Reports have it that, as of earlier this week, shooting at Magheramorne Quarry — the sight of a very elaborate action scene involving the Dothraki, the army of the dead, flaming swords and more — has ended for good, and that crew members have packed up their stuff and driven off. It’s just King’s Landing now, its citizens hoping no one else comes along to knock down more of their homes. Pray for King’s Landing.
