It's time for another episode of Take the Black, the fantasy and sci-fi podcast where Winter Is Coming editor Daniel Roman and Marq Nettles of House of Nettles go over all the latest updates from the Seven Kingdoms and beyond. Last week's episode was packed to the gills with updates from around the Game of Thrones franchise, including updates on the Aegon's Conquest movie and a shocking new lore drop that came out of the Game of Thrones stage play The Mad King. What's new in Westeros since then?

As it turns out, not much! The ravens coming out of King's Landing have been fairly quiet for the past week, though a few intriguing messages have still slipped through the cracks. From a small update about House of the Dragon season 4 to speculation about the first look for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2, we go over what we know.

Fortunately, things are very active elsewhere in the realms of fantasy and sci-fi, with a few notable new shows dropping in the past week to keep us busy. You can check out the full episode of Take the Black right here:

The bulk of this week's episode is dedicated to reviewing two new series that are worth having on your radar: Avatar: Seven Havens, the latest series in the beloved animated franchise that began with Avatar: The Last Airbender; and Carrie, Mike Flanagan's new take on the classic Stephen King novel over at Prime Video. Marq and I have both watched these shows to varying degrees, and we have a lot of thoughts.

We also spend some time discussing our spooky season watch lists, including Peacock's Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, and a deep-cut fantasy horror film that stars not one, but two Game of Thrones alums that should be on any Westeros fan's Halloween queue. Join us, and shout out in the comments if there are any great spooky season shows or movies you think we need to be watching!
