Keeping in theme with yesterday’s In Production video featuring the Dubrovnik locations, two YouTube videos from the shoot in Croatia have been uncovered by Abyss, one of our commenters. Since several of the sets in Dubrovnik were openly accessible by virtue of necessity, photos and videos from and around the town are not that uncommon. The ones revealed now give us one take each from two different short scenes. First, the Hound fighting an unknown warrior on the ramparts, one we have seen glimpses of up close in this fight stunts official video (at the 1:10 mark):
The second one, just to make sure you do not get spoil(er)ed, is embedded after the jump.
It’s a take of a mob scene choreography, with Joffrey surrounded by the Kingsguard negotiating his way through the crowd.
Hear Me Roar: What do you think the scene with the Hound is? “Blackwater” would be a good guess, but then again it’s a day scene. Who is he fighting?

“I want the man who threw that! …”
If I remember correctly this is straight from the book :)
I already feel sorry for that goldcloak whos dragged down in the second vid.

The Hound’s fight looks pretty good. He could be fighting an Antler man, assuming they mount some sort of effective attack before meeting their fate with the trebuchet.

Great spies videos!
The promenade on the Walls was obviously open during the filming.
One could pay 10€ and watch GoT live.
Dubrovnik is in fact small city; every fortress or higher ground is visible from every corner of the city.
During my visit, we were in the apartmenet across the Minceta fortress. If I had been there in September I could have watched Gold Cloaks action from the balcony!

I love everybody cheering Sandor. That’s what I would do too. :D

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Aren’t they meant to be on horses when the crowd goes mad though?

I don’t really know what to think of this unless I’ve seen it post-processed.
The mob-scene looks pretty cool. Looks like a lot of work to me. I can’t really make out what’s happening to Sansa? She seems to walk around the crowd so it looks like she’s been separated.
I hope they’ll make the crowd look bigger, angrier and noisier than this with CFX.
The Hound scence was awesome as well, let’s just pray this is not the BW battle…

I love watching that crowd scene jump into action on que.

I know this is semi off topic but are you all (WIC) worried about all the SOPA stuff going on? I’m worried things like these videos, spy pictures and the like could go the way of the dodo. That would definitely suck.
dizzy_34Quote Reply
Damn I totally forgot about that? This actually sucks because it’s absolutely un-kingly to walk through the filthy city :(
It’s really said they had to do it on foot… apparently horses where to complicated to handle in the city.
G_LeeQuote Reply
The stuntman deserves props for the fall in that first video – it’s must have taken balls. Unlike some other stunts I’ve seen it looks like a proper FALL rather than a jump. Very well done.

Ha! Called this gate months ago when we first got the Croatia pics.
Would I rather they were riding? Yeah. Will I lose sleep over it? No.
the goatQuote Reply
the goat,
Now that you mention it I slightly remember the gate from when the first short video (in much worse quality) showed it.
I don’t really care about the fact either but now we won’t get a “I need to find my horse” scene from Sandor.
What I am losing sleep about though is if they manage to make the Sandor-rescuing-Sansa scence as epic as it is in my mind ;)
G_LeeQuote Reply
I love seeing raw footage and comparing to the episode when it airs. So interesting!
I’m sure it will appear more grande and intense in the episode but video 2 does look more small scale than I imagined while reading…..

And when will HBO be asking you to take this down?
I wonder, WiC, if you ever wonder if you will spoil your good relationship with HBO by putting things up that we all know they would not want released.
Not a criticism, just wondering.
HOLLYOAKQuote Reply
c’mon people, two short videos won’t upsed HBO. Now, if the video was a bit of a Very Important Scene (like Ned killed or something) then I would understand. But this.. is just a behind the scenes video, and it comes from youtube. If the PTB at HBO really don’t like it, they can ask youtube to take it down
Elena AmiciQuote Reply
Hmm I think that the only downside to filming in Dubrovnik is that it’s just TOO CLEAN for Kings Landing, they don’t have an inch of unpaved surface within the walls.. But it’s no biggie IMO..
Andrija Andrew PQuote Reply
Filming that with horses would have been a nightmare. This sort of change never bothers me. ( In my heart , I know Sandor went back for Stranger ) :)..Soft hearted Lug that he is.. ;)
ObsidianQuote Reply
dizzy_34, I’m worried about it just as an American, I hadn’t really put much thought into how it would affect WiCnet though. The good thing is it seems very unlikely that it will pass now, with all the opposition to it, so hopefully I won’t have to worry about what effect it might have on the site.
HOLLYOAK, HBO is understanding when it comes to this type of stuff. They realize that we strive to cover every aspect of the show, both things that come from official and unofficial sources. That being said, we HAVE held back from releasing certain images and info that we have received in the past. But if something gets put out there by another site or another individual, of course, we are going to report on it.

is this even a possibility? BTW, I feel incredibly lost without en.wikipedia today. I haven’t realized how much I need it until today

this SOPA thing is getting f***d in the arse on so many fronts now it’s highly unlikely it’s gonna pass. anyway, nice footage, me like.

Gotcha, brother. Good thinking. We are a fan site after all. This one just seemed a little different because they were actually shooting a real scene, even down to the director shouting “Action!”
Of course, I was the first one to click on these spy videos!
HollyoakQuote Reply
Yeah. It’s sucks a bit.
They’ll probably semi-solve it by doing something like:
Sandor: “We really should’ve taken horses…”
Joffrey: “Bah! This will show them I’m fearless like a real king! You think these filthy peasants will dare lay hands on ME?! They’ll tremble by the mere thought, they’ll… HEY!”

Elena Amici,
If you really need to access wikipedia, you could disable javascript which gets rid of the banner, or use the mobile site, or google cache. Whether or not this is a deliberate comment on the legislation (it would cause problems for many, but those who really want to find a way around blocks will do so without problem) I couldn’t say.
Back on topic, great videos- I watched the crowd scene multiple times following different characters’ movements. The fall after that fight was impressive, well done that stuntman!

This is an interesting topic. What sort of info have you held back from releasing? Is there anything from pre-S1 that you can mention now, but you decided not to publish at the time?

But seriously, I hope those bills don’t pass, I don’t mind losing wikipedia for a day for something so important. I think for sure It would affect us even in the great white north. So fight that with all you got my friends south of the border!

It’s possible the Hound scene is from the Blackwater. They can turn day into night quite easily by using filters, or they might just move the battle to the day.
Adam WhiteheadQuote Reply
Is that Sansa being spirited away by the women in pink who loop around the back of the crowd? It seems like they are deliberately going in a different direction than the rest of the crowd, who are aggressively pushing towards Joffrey.

Do u think this is real? it looks like a rehearsal maybe or pre-FX sequence during blackwater. I mean the people are wearing modern clothing so the pre-FX is a stretch…but still kinda cool

Fran Dresher,
It could be a pre-FX sequence as you say, but I guess not, it looks just to amateurish to me. And they are fighting with sticks, way do that, if you can give them replica swords?
Edit: Forgot the rehearsal-part. – That’s possible, I guess.

If anything, they would just get youtube to take it down. I doubt it would bring this site any problems since it’s just an embedded video from youtube.

With regards to them being on foot rather than horseback, I suspect Sophie Turner would have celebrated the change, as she’s extremely allergic to horses. I think it will add an interesting dynamic to the scene, as it would be harder to escape a mob on foot than on horseback!
Lady HoundQuote Reply
In the book, it is very romantic when Sandor rides back to the others with Sansa behind him with her arms wrapped round him, blah blah. I like the whole mob scene a lot in the books. But, now that I think about it, it might work better if they are on foot for a TV scene. It’ll be more claustrophobic, the Royals will be on the same level as the angry mob, not above their heads, Tyrion will be especially endangered…I think it’ll work.
And as for Sansa randomly walking out of the mob, they’ll probably just have a shot of her disappearing among the rioters, then we won’t see her until she’s all bloodied when Sandor saves her. They won’t include footage of her walking off like that.
Looks good :)
freyar_88Quote Reply
I still hope so much that they’ll make the Sandor saving Sansa scene really epic. He can carry her back. That’s just as good.
G_LeeQuote Reply
Those Kingsguard are pretty shit, right near the end Joffery is wide open with only Sandor close at hand.

HBO should really increase the budget on this show. They can’t even get horses during the riot scenes. Isn’t the show getting enough dough with all the cheap merchandise it’s selling?

Nope, I think you’re right, he’s absent. Which potentially sets up a nice exchange:
(for instance)
Tyrion: Are you sure you don’t want to ride back, your Grace? The streets are not so safe these days.
Joff: Never fear, uncle, some of us are tall enough to walk them.
Tyrion: Yes, of course, your Grace. Shall I fetch your crossbow, in case any rabbits try to impede your crossing?
(Joff meanface, Tyrion smirk, Cersei scowl, Dog side eye, Sansa smirk, Tyr/Bronn ride off w/Bronn side eye back) cut. print. move the lights!

It has been simply a deluge of illegal material lately. Waiting for HBO to pull a cease and desist order on these tasteless rogue video is positively making my spine tingle. I sincerely hope this won’t tarnish the good fans of the show in the HBO corporation’s eyes. It’s best how Whitney said it when she said: “Take their [the fans'] hand and let them lead the way.”
Epic knows nothingQuote Reply
In the first video: why are they already clapping when the director hasn’t even said ‘Cut!’? But I suppose that’s what sound editing is for right?
Second video: I don’t know why but it reminded me of The Walking Dead. :D
Aren’t they supposed to be on horseback?
LouisaQuote Reply
How are these videos illegal (much less tasteless)? These were filmed in a public area with no apparent restrictions on movement of the locals/tourists by the authorities. Maybe the law is different in Croatia, but there is clearly no expectation of privacy. This is not a closed set and those filming were not trespassing. I don’t see how HBO would have any grounds to have Youtube remove these videos in the first place.

and I really don’t mind they being afoot. a bunch of horses in this scene would result in accidents, for sure!
