Yayyyy!! My main disappointment from Oathkeeper was that there was no Oberyn or Tywin – glad they’ll both be back this week.

I’m looking forward to this episode very much –

Jon and his recruits vs the muntineers – the last episode build up the mutineers to be so despicable and loathsome I can’t wait to see them get destroyed!

And Tommen’s coronation should be cool.

I wonder when #Team Dreadfort will appear again though?

Cant wait to see The Hound give Arya some fighting lessons :)

I remember seeing a picture from filming (in belfast i think) where The Hound is looking down at Arya, who is on her back. I have a feeling he will give her a bit of a beating (in a competitive, non brutal way) in this episode to make her stronger

What I’m really curious to see is if the show goes the Alayne Stone route with Sansa, or if they pull stuff out of their asses again and keep her as Sansa with a manufactured-from-whole-cloth plot. Given last week’s writing, I fear the latter.

    Ser Osis of Liver,

I think they have to go the “Alayne” route. LF can’t just parade “Sansa” in front of the Lords of the Vale. Word WOULD get back to Cersei. I don’t think LF’s new friends could help him if it came to that.

It would’ve been fine if they had cut away and then come back later. We get that its an expensive season so they don’t have the budget to show the conquering, so if they had cut away and then returned, at least it would’ve given the illusion that time had passed and things were happening off camera.

I am interested in how Theon approaches MC. Will it be “knock, knock…land shark…” or will it be trojan horse Theon (much rejoicing…a Greyjoy has returned!) then opening the gates after hours? His ride through the desolate post-battle scene looks classic! Seems like a MM-directed shot.

They don’t really need to dye her hair. The Unsullied won’t be asking themselves why her hair isn’t dyed; for starters, I don’t think it’s even been established how good, if any, hair dyes there are in-universe, and there may be good Watsonian reasons not to do it:
    1) Sansa may not look convincing as a brunette (she has light red hair in the show) and that could look suspicious.*
    2) She may run out of hair dye or someone may notice her red roots growing – and LF having a bastard daughter with dyed hair who appears just at the time that ginger Sansa has disappeared, would look more suspicious than LF just having a bastard daughter with red hair who appears just at the time Sansa disappeared.
The show’s Doylist reasons are probably:
    1) Sophie, being a natural blonde, may not look convincing as a brunette (which may be why her hair is lighter in the show than Michelle’s/Catelyn’s), and
    2) they may be afraid that it would confuse some of the casual viewers, like those who know Sansa as “ginger Stark”. ;) It’s not like the show has been known for overestimating its audience (Osha/Asha/Yara change, Robert/Robin change).
*I’ve seen people say that she could just be a blonde, Sophie’s natural color, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense as it would make her look even less like her “father” LF.

Really, when you think about it, Tyrion never dyed his hair or otherwise changed his appearance to pass as Yollo/Hugor Hill, and he should be far more recognizable than Sansa, especially in the books, where he’s famously ugly with eyes of different colors and most of his nose is missing.

I very much doubt it, he’s only missed two episode in the entire series, and he’s going to be missing from episode 9 this year. He’ll probably have one scene, same as the last two episodes. But in any case, it actually hasn’t been that long since we had a Tyrion-less episode, relatively speaking. He wasn’t in “The Rains of Castamere”. We had 21 episode with Tyrion in a row before that episode.

Actually, this was to ease up the server load and speed up mobile page load. It worked for both purposes. I am working on moving WiC to a new far superior server, so hopefully once we get on that we can either turn it off or make the paging works right.

We are’t trying to jack up pageviews or mess up the experience, just dealing with backend performance issues more than anything. Traffic is up double from last year and the server Phil put together just can’t hold it anymore…

    darkshot117,

since they probably didn’t want to dye her hair/blockquote>

Actually one of the hairdressers said Sophie’s hair is naturally “baby blond” so they’ve been dying her hair red ever 7 to 10 days using some “watercolors” (not the perm dye) since the show started. And I can certainly tell they’ve been dying her hair (my HD large tv shows those kinds of details). I know she looks like a natural red head but she isn’t. So dying it brown, even using the temporary ‘watercolors’ they’ve been using wouldn’t be a big deal and I think it’s important. I just don’t think Lysa Arryn could look at her as a red head and not wonder if they’re related. I will be VERY disappointed if they don’t disguise her better than a braid and a hood. That would be some seriously weak sauce.

    Deathdreams,

    2 dragons 1 Jorah

Dude, I was both amused and repulsed by that…well done!

    Mariya Martell,

He wants to tap that, but she’s a Lannister

Oberyn pretty much wants to tap everything…different on the show than in the books where he expresses severe distaste at the idea…however, when he visits Tyrion, I bet we’ll get a line about him saying, “sleep with Cersei, icky, no!”

    Hodor’s Bastard,

Microsoft does it all the time.

Microsoft does it all the time because they have a captive audience and don’t give a shit if some people revolt–they’ll still have billions of users. I imagine WiC doesn’t expect us to go anywhere either. I’ve already figured out how to get around the broken links but as a web programmer, I’m pretty damned irritated by it. It’s possible that the website (fansided) already had pagination features ready to be plugged in, then someone simply didn’t implement it correctly. But if it had to be programmed as a new feature, not testing the comment links across pages is really dumb. Either way, it’s kindergarten-level stuff and shouldn’t be happening.

Yeah, but I think there’s a decent chance the final season is extended by a few episodes and split in half. There’s precedent from a business standpoint should it consider to sell like gangbusters. Even if ADOS somehow winds up comparatively tiny I can see it occurring, and it’ll more likely be of considerable size. Of course there’s every possibility the book won’t be out in time, but D&D know what it’ll be about and can work with GRRM to dictate how much screentime is optimal.

So I’m looking at Sunday as a possible halfway point. Regardless one of the following three or so episodes will mark that milestone. No way an extended final season is more than like 14 split into two 7s or so considering how many times we’ve been told 10 is incredibly difficult to achieve. So yeah, we’re pretty much there.

    Matt Blake,

Believe me, I understand your predicament. FS grabbed a corner of the GoT world at a key rapid growth time (Winter Phil is chuckling) and shit happens when you underscale the software/hardware. But why would FS ban folks and delete posts that stem from the concerns of a passionate ASoI&F/GoT fan base? Simply out of frustration or are you now under the scrutiny of the advertisers’s eye? This isn’t a Nickelodeon show; it is a mature NC-17 show with a huge swath of unique individuals who love their fantasy. Even trolls have their place or are put in their place.

Go ahead, please make money and live long and prosper, fix the bugs and move on, but expect passionate fans to be passionate/cynical/frustrated/crazy on these threads. All I hope is that you are listening to the concerns and prioritizing them. Maybe a “System Issues” forum is coming?

I do hope some of the legacy posters return (or get to return), even with the new rules and limitations. Their perspectives are extremely valued and respected (for the most part). Tolerance, folks, tolerance. Amnesty and forgiveness make for a better community.

Sansa having a new name is probably important to the future plot so I’m going to assume they will keep it?

    Eleanor,

I.. don’t even know what to say to that. My mother on literally every movie/show asks “Is that the good guy or the bad guy?” or will ask why something happens before the show explains, and when the show explains, it doesn’t matter how simple it is, she doesn’t get the explanation and has me answer 5 times before I give up. But Game of Thrones, she has a strong grasp on all the characters, how they’re related, what they’re doing, and even some of the witty banter. I’m impressed, because she still falls asleep for half of the episode.

That picture with Arya I heard that she loses her arm opening scene which is gonna be a major deviation from the books. Didnt one of Danya dragons take her arm? btw where is Hotpie since Sansa is now in the Vale shouldnt he be there to greet her?

Jeff O’Connor: Yeah, but I think there’s a decent chance the final season is extended by a few episodes and split in half…

Yeah, I think this is what’s going to happen too. I think WOW is going to be just as big as ADWD with less cuttable stuff. We know HBO would have to renegotiate contracts if the show goes longer than 7 seasons so they will just add more episodes to season 7 and split it in half like Breaking Bad, Mad Men and (I think) Sopranos did. It’s kind of a shitty way to treat their actors, but I think that’s the route they will go…

    Meraxes,

No no. The general hope is that the last season will be an extended one a la Breaking Bad. The only reason for them to not do 8 seasons is reconstructing issues, and doing a two part extended last season (16 episodes would be the cap, I assume) avoids those issues AND gives the series enough time to finish without rushing things or cutting whole storylines/elements.

So let’s hope for 76 episodes, with this year’s episode 8 being the official middle.

    It’s not happening, is it?

Also, this site will not be the same without Rygar. It really sucks if he got banned for one of his jokes. Seriously.

    darkshot117,

Dude, I was both amused and repulsed by that…well done!

    Mariya Martell,

Oberyn pretty much wants to tap everything…different on the show than in the books where he expresses severe distaste at the idea…however, when he visits Tyrion, I bet we’ll get a line about him saying, “sleep with Cersei, icky, no!”

I really hope so, but they need to get the marriage proposition from Cersei in, for that to make sense. I guess the ‘rain of scorpions’ tale is too much to hope for though :(

I just realised that the comments have pages now. I’m not sure how I feel about this, honestly…

Anyway, I’m curious about the Cersei-Oberyn discussion. Perhaps they will have Cersei try and persuade/bribe Oberyn into judging Tyrion guilty? That would certainly fit with her character at the moment.

I think Oberyn is going to bring up the fact that Myrcella is older than Tommen, and that under Dornish law, she would come before him in the line of succession. Also, when the hell are they going to call him ‘The Red Viper’ in the show? That should have happened in the premier.

    Tyrion Pimpslap,

Tywin danced around it in the bordello in ep3 when he mentioned Oberyn’s knowledge of poisons, but yeah, he should have added a “Red Viper” reference at that point. Maybe Cersei will be more familiar with his nickname, with possibly some slithery innuendo?

They haven’t done a good job at reminding people that Joffrey had a younger sister who was shipped off to Dorne for a political marriage. Even if it takes some clunky expositional dialogue they need to explain to the audience that Myrcella was shipped off to live in Dorne which is where these 2 new characters are from.

While I appreciated this new formatting at first it’s beginning to piss me off. With the multiple pages of comments you can’t click on the latest comment anymore and jump right to them, you have to scroll down and click which page. I realize that sounds like first world problems, but still I gotta vent.

Also, I’d bookmarked past threads where Abyss had posted his gifs from the trailers. Now those comments have been deleted or something. Anyways its a shame because those were helpful for my speculation.

The ‘Red Viper’ ship has sailed. It made sense to get it in in the first episode and they had a great opportunity when Tyrion is walking away from the encounter with the Dornish lords. This way he would be a strong contender to being Joffrey’s murderer, adding to the mystery. Now that the perpetrator is known, there is no point.

I was reading some Unsullied-only threads in another forum and there were a lot of posts saying things like “I don’t think it was Oberyn, poison really isn’t his style.” I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
